Plants in the Bedroom – Part 2

Another great plant to have in your bedroom or bathroom

Following on from my previous article about ‘Plants in the Bedroom’. Here’s another one for you to consider having in your bedroom or bathroom. Did you know that there are certain types of house plants that can remove toxic pollutants? Although only in small quantities, this plant can absorb cancer-causing pollutants, including CO2, benzene, formaldehyde, xylene and toluene.

The Sansevieria plant (Mother in Law’s Tongue) is native to Africa, Madagascar and Southern Asia. It is a member of the lily family and a common air purifying house plant. A very durable plant that releases oxygen at night. Mother in Law’s Tongue plant converts carbon dioxide to oxygen at night which makes it an ideal bedroom plant.

It can help fight allergies as it absorbs pollutants and it releases moisture into the air which reduces airborne allergens.

This plant is also know as a Snake plant and symbolizes cleanliness and tenacity. It is also a popular Feng-Shui plant associated with good luck. It releases positive chi energy and fights negative energy.

The really good news is that it is an easy maintenance plant and doesn’t require too much watering. Once a week is sufficient and in the winter it only needs watering once a fortnight!
