Quick and easy upcycling

I spent a couple of weeks over on the Isle of Wight in February. It was a ‘working holiday’ so I got to go on lots of lovely beach walks and socialise with local friends in-between doing a few Winter maintenance jobs on my Holiday Let in Cowes.

The bedside tables were in need of some reviving so I decided to do something that is quick and easy… and the best bit… it doesn’t require any sanding, priming or painting. It really is a 20 minute job and it’s very effective. For those of you who are old enough to remember Blue Peter in the days of Valerie Singleton you will also remember the famous sticky back plastic that got used on most projects.

There’s lots of different designs available now. I chose this wood effect one as it has a nice beach feel to it. The only part of the bedside cabinets that needed refreshing were the tops, however, I decided that covering the drawer fronts too would give them a whole new lease of life. I’m really pleased with the result.

…and because it was such a quick and easy job to upcycle all four bedside cabinets I got to go for a lovely walk on Gurnard beach.
